About
Emily Rued
Emily Rued, LMFT #120981
Welcome! Thank you for being here.
Life has a way of asking us to grow through the hardest things — a loss, a new baby, a shift in identity we didn't see coming. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and I help individuals move through these moments with more clarity, self-compassion, and resilience.
My work centers on grief and loss, depression, anxiety, attachment wounds, PTSD, and trauma. I'm trained in EMDR and often weave it into treatment when it fits a client's story and pace. My approach is grounded in attachment theory and informed by psychodynamic principles, layered with practical, CBT-based tools — because insight matters, but so does having something concrete to reach for between sessions. At the core, I believe you already hold the keys to your own healing. My job is to help you find them.
I have a particular passion for perinatal mental health — supporting people through the decision of whether to have a child, the run-up to birth, the identity shift that follows, and the postpartum period, including postpartum anxiety and depression in both mothers and fathers. This work is close to my heart and I hold it with care.
I also love working with creatives.
As someone with roots in the entertainment industry myself, I understand the particular pressures that come with a career built on vulnerability and visibility — actors, writers, directors, producers, musicians, editors, and filmmakers all bring a distinct set of challenges to the therapy room, and I get it from the inside.
If you're navigating grief, a major transition, or simply feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, I'd be glad to help you find your way through.
I have completed both levels 1 and 2 of EMDR training from EMDRIA-certified EMDR Institute and am a Certified Meditation Teacher.
I believe everyone is capable of making desired changes in their life, and that creating supportive, meaningful relationships can bring a great sense of accomplishment and joy.

EMDR is one of the primary techniques I use in working with clients. I have found that most of us have some form of trauma that is interfering with our lives. These traumas come in all sizes and just because something may not seem like it should be traumatic it could very well be negatively impacting your life. In EMDR we will confront your traumatic memories and heal them so that you are no longer controlled by the intense emotions linked to that memory. Once your trauma and fear no longer control your life, you will be free to move forward unencumbered by the weight your past.
